Kilt Hire FAQ


How far in advance should I book my Kilt Hire?  Please reserve your garments early. From May through October our Kilts Hire Packages are in high demand. We suggest booking at least 3 months in advance if you require a kilt hire in our busy season. We can do rush bookings; however alterations, if needed, take time.

How do I book a Kilt Hire? Come in for a fitting (no appointment necessary).  We will take your measurements and have you try on garments. We will then select the garment that looks its best on you, note any alterations necessary, and will reserve those garments for you on the date you require them.  (If it is impossible for you to come in for a fitting we will guide you through the how-to's of measuring over the phone or via email.) We will then take a copy of your drivers license for our files and will also take a required deposit of 50% to 75% of the full cost of your Kilt Hire package. 

Are there any additional costs? There is an insurance fee of $15 per rental for adult rentals and $8 for children's.  The fee is already included in the pricing of our Formal and Semi Formal Kilt Hire packages.

When do I pick up and drop off my Kilt Hire?  Unless pre-arranged, rental pick up time is between 5:00pm and 8:00pm ThursdayReturn of your Kilt Hire must be before 5:00pm Tuesday. Early pick up ($15) and late return ($15) can be pre-arranged for each outfit. 

Is there a late return charge? Yes. Customers will be responsible to pay late fee of $50 per day for non-timely return of their rental garments. Please remember that the garment you are renting could be needed for someone else's special day.

What do I do if I spill something on my kilt or jacket?   If you spill something on one of your garments, please just gently wipe it with a cloth. Do NOT try to take the stain out yourself. Wool is a very finicky fabric to work with; our drycleaners are experts at stain removal. When you return your garments to us, simply let us know what the stain is and we will take it from there.

What if I lose or damage one of my garments? A replacement cost or $1000 deductible (whichever is less) is payable for damage or loss.

Do I have to dryclean my garments before returning them?  No. The cost of drycleaning is included with every rental. Every garment is dry-cleaned after each rental - absolutely no exceptions - so you receive a freshly cleaned and pressed item when you pick up your rental.
